Barraer Loch
The dam forming the loch was constructed over 30yrs ago, by the farms'
current owner. The loch was seeded with 100 tiny brown trout in 1979 and
has been self stocking ever since. The largest recorded trout ,caught in
1983, was 4lbs. Although, most fish caught are around 1lb in weight.
Barraer trout are challenging to catch. The best time is usually in the
evening. The islands usually have a few fish patrolling round them. Don't
forget to look up to enjoy the view and appreciate the wonderful quiet.
There's always the boat to cover trout that are just out of reach.
On top of the damn is a great spot to BBQ your catch after a "hard days"
fishing or just enjoy a picnic.
